Nassau, The Bahamas - September 18, 2008 - The Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino has appointed 26-year hotel industry veteran Samuel Zabawsky to the position of director of sales and marketing for the resort located in Nassau, The Bahamas. Based in Plantation, Fla., Zabawsky is responsible for the resort's overall sales and marketing initiatives, including public relations, advertising and promotions and development of the sales teams.
Zabawsky joins the Wyndham Nassau Resort from the Boykin Management Company in Charlotte, NC, where he served as vice president of sales and revenue management for the nine-property hotel management company. Before joining Boykin, he was director of sales and marketing for The SandPearl Resort & Condominiums in Clearwater, Fla., where he oversaw the property's marketing and sales initiatives. He was also director of resort marketing and sales at The Sea Pines Resort in Hilton Head Island, SC, where he was responsible for resort revenue and yield strategies.
Between 1998 and 2004, Zabawsky held several positions with Wyndham International, including director of sales and marketing where he oversaw the conversion of the Westin Miami Beach into a Wyndham property. He also served as regional director of sales for eight Caribbean properties, as well as regional vice president of sales for several hotels in the southeast region of the U.S.
Zabawsky also was director of marketing and sales for Interstate Hotels Corp., where he worked at various domestic and international properties, including the Marriott Grand Hotel in Moscow, Westin Miami Beach, Pittsburgh Marriott City Center, Vista Hotel at the World Trade Center, the Trumbull Marriott in Connecticut, and the Baltimore Marriott. He spent more than 10 years at Marriott International, where he was honored with the Director of Marketing and Sales of the Year Award, Director of Marketing/Team of the Year Award and Director of Marketing & Sales/Washington Region Award. He also served in various sales and marketing positions at Hilton Hotels Corporate, The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA, and Belz Enterprises in Memphis, TN.
Zabawsky received a bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of Houston and also served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves.
The Wyndham Nassau Resort's 559 guestrooms are each equipped with new flat-screen televisions and in-room refrigerators.
